Notes

Not every stalemate is a missed chance. Sheffield Wednesday 0–0 Stockport County. Three weeks after putting seven past Bromley, Wednesday have now drawn two league games running at Hillsborough, both goalless, missing Louie Barry — the double scorer that day — to injury throughout. Stockport matched the league leaders in front of more than 32,000 and were arguably the better side in the first half. Two decent sides cancelling each other out is a different thing from either side having an off day, and this was the former.

Statement result. Plymouth won 4–2 at Blackpool, a third straight victory built on two goals from Oliver Irow either side of half-time, either side of one from Jerry Yates. Blackpool's bright start to the season is now a four-match run without a win, and the finishing touch has deserted both ends of the pitch across it.

Elsewhere. Reading beat Notts County 2–0, Leicester's tricky return to the third tier continued with a draw at Barnsley, and MK Dons' wait for a first league win goes on after a goalless draw at AFC Wimbledon that satisfied nobody involved.

Worth tracking. Bradford won again at Luton, extending a run that is starting to look less like a run of upsets and more like the level the club is actually playing at this season. Worth treating them as a genuine promotion contender before the table forces the issue rather than after.
